Lyrics
Upon the Wall
I see my reflection and I make the connection
so I glare in the direction of the house upon the Hill and wonder
will they ever realize the tragic cost of being wrong?
They say they've got their reasons and usually it's Freedom
but time and passing seasons reveal the hand of treason
tell me, what you trying to hand me - I swear I've seen this all before
Why do we heed the call tell me
why are we here at all
why ask the names upon the wall
they speak of epic fury
(O say can you see)
gallantry and glory
(dawn's early light)
but the the names I see before me
(proudly we hailed)
well they tell a different story - don’t they?
(twilight's last gleaming)
Folded flags and Arlington – they just don't feel too much like home?
(stripes and bright stars shine through the perilous fight)
They spill the blood of heroes
(rocket's red glare)
at a cost with countless zeros
(bursting in air)
to appease the Beltway Neros
(proof through the night flag was still there)
who cower in the Capitol – point their bony fingers
and imagine they might be someone
(gallantly streaming O'er the ramparts we watched)
Why do we heed the call tell me
why are we here at all
why ask the names upon the wall
